Dublin GAA Stars

Congratulations to Alex Bermingham and Conor Foran in 6th class who represented Dublin at Croke Park at half time during their Leinster Semi-Final win over Longford.

Conor Foran started in midfield and Alex Bermingham started half-forward. Both lads managed to bag themselves a goal!

We will be watching with interest in the coming years how the boys fare. With their combination of attitude and talent we will surely be seeing plenty more appearances in Croke Park.

6th Class Authors

The boys are busy in the final stages of editing their stories which will be published later this year. We have put a lot of work into planning, drafting, editing and proof-reading and all our hard work is coming to fruition. We can’t wait to see the final product!

Circuits – 6th Class

For PE today we undertook circuit training. As a class, we brainstormed different ideas and skills we could incorporate into the session. The boys were careful to include both physical and technical activities and to stagger them so that each muscle would get a rest.

6th Class Attendance

Well done to the boys in Room 18 who achieved full attendance for Term 1.

Tag Rugby Tournament

For the past 2 months, 5th and 6th Class have had a coach from Leinster Rugby come in a train the boys in the basic skills of Tag Rugby. The boys impressed so much that 30 boys were invited to take part in a Tag Rugby Tournament in Irishtown Stadium, Ringsend. The boys did themselves proud winning 11 out of 12 games and winning their respective leagues in the process.

Sugarloaf School Tour

On Tuesday, 13th June, 4th and 5th Class went on a school tour to the Sugarloaf Mountain. Following on from our Couch to 5K programme we wanted to challenge ourselves for our school tour. The boys showed a great attitude all day and were determined to make it to the top.  The view at the top made it all worth it!

Couch to 5K

We are now in week 6 in our Couch to 5K training and the boys are really feeling the benefits. It’s great to hear to boys talk about how much further they can run and how their stamina has improved. Their enthusiasm is contagious and we can’t wait for our 5K run on Thursday, 6th April.

Yoga – 5th Class

We have recently started our Yoga course and are now in our 3rd week. Every Wednesday, for 6 weeks, the boys are taught various Yoga poses and introduced to mindfulness. Maura is our instructor and  does a great job in explaining the different poses to the boys.

Credit Union Table Quiz

The boys from St Davids BNS participated in the Credit Union Table Quiz. This took place on 8 February in Parnell’s GAA Club. The boys had a great night and Bobby even went up on stage to entertain us! The boys who represented the school were Bobby Davis, Sean Pasquetti, Adam Lowry, Karl Popa, Jack Woods, Davids Corbert, Ciaran O’Toole and Cian Graham. Well done, you did David’s proud!

Senior Football

Well done to St David’s Senior Football team who reached the semi-final of the Dublin School’s Cup. We had some great wins along the way and we were a kick of the ball away from playing the final in Croke Park. A particular highlight was our commanding win in the quarter-final against Scoil Mobhi.
